Ellepot

Design, specification and development of IOT device, backend and app.

In collaboration with Ellepot, we have developed a complete solution from specification and design of the IoT device on the machine to backend and App.

With a desire to develop a customized digital tool that would make it easier to provide the right support and service before it is required, as well as allow their customers to easily retrieve production data from their machines via an app, Ellepot contacted Vetech Software Solutions.

Ellepot wanted a product that:
– makes it possible to download current production data from machines to mobile phones.
– makes it easy to get an overview of operations, production and consumption.
– gives the end customer an opportunity to monitor their machines from an app.

Ellepot had an urgent need to gain insight into how their machines run because they provide qualified, timely support and service to their customers before it is required.
In practical terms, Ellepot would like to be able to detect when a component that is rated to run for 20,000 hours is approaching its durability limit in order to provide timely support and replace the component before it wears out and lowers production standards.

At the same time, Ellepot would also be able to offer their customers a tool where they can easily and cheaply retrieve current production data and operational information on their mobile phones anywhere in the world.

Vetech Software Solutions offered a complete solution from specification and design of the IoT device on the machine to programming the backend and mobile app.

The overall solution should be able to:
– collect data from production machines
– exchange data directly from the IoT device on the machine and the PLC
– be controlled and monitored directly from mobile
and at the same time be easy and cheap to use.

The project includes a very tight integration to the PLC on the machine so that production data, error codes and machine setup can be uploaded to the backend. We built an IoT device that sends all data from the PLC to the backend via a SIM card. Our IoT device handles PLCs from Siemens and Allen-Bradley without a SCADA/OPC license.

We developed a comprehensive web backend for administration/monitoring of all the machines for use by Ellepot’s technicians in connection with support, as well as access to the same web for Ellepot’s customers so they can see the status of their machines anywhere in the world in a clear and user-friendly display both from the app and from a website.

Each machine has an IoT device installed with a SIM card for a machine-to-machine mobile subscription, provided by the same provider wherever in the world the machine is used. With an M2M subscription and our highly compressed data communication, the cost of a mobile data connection is a very small cost. Of course, the IoT device can be used without a cellular connection in places where there is access to WiFi or a fixed network connection.

With our IoT device and accompanying app, Ellepot and their customers have a solution that makes it easy and affordable to retrieve data and monitor their machines from anywhere in the world via the app.

At Ellepot, we have experienced a very good collaboration with Vetech in our IoT project.
Vetech has given us good guidance and delivers a strong performance on both the hardware and software part.
I experience the employee team at Vetech as competent, accommodating and flexible
– all in all, a partner we can give our recommendation.
